Fav4 is a startpage that strives to get rid of the clutter which most startpages experience. We can use only four shortcuts on Fav4. These shortcuts can be selected from Fav4’s huge library which mostly comprises of the most popular websites on the internet. HomePage Startup is a quite a comprehensive startpage and normally what most internet users opt for. Not only can we add our custom bookmarks and their titles, but we can also drag them around to reorder them. Incredible StartPage is a browser extension for the web browser Google Chrome. This extension lets us set our startpage in a very unique way. Along with having our selected bookmarks on the startpage, we also get our recently closed tabs and notes. Once we install the extension we are shown a page which describes the extension and suggests other Chrome extension by the same developer.

To get started with setting our startpage, we need to open a new tab.

Starting from the top, the yellow notepad lets us take down notes in a font which I like.

After we take down a note, we can even post it to Gmail using the link at the bottom right of the notepad. The CLOSED area shows us our recently closed tabs. Also, if we close a tab by accident, here is where we can recover it from. The box to the right of the CLOSED box lets us browse all our bookmarks.

If we want we can drag bookmarks from here to the main box to our right.

By default this window only has bookmarks from our Bookmarks Toolbar. But we can always add new shortcuts from the BOOKMARKS window in the startpage. Apart from all these features, we can customize the theme of our startpage using the OPTIONS button which is located in the top right of our startpage.

AnyColor is an add-on that changes the look of your Firefox browser. You can easily change the appearance of your browser with just a few clicks. There are many themes you can choose from and it is very easy to customize them or create your own. After the add-on is installed you will prompted to restart Firefox after which you will be able to view AnyColor’s startpage.

On this startpage you can choose a color scheme from the pane on the left. You can even choose to enable certain tweaks by checking the boxes in the left. A button lets you add the add-on’s toolbar to Firefox to quickly shift between themes. The toolbar is located in the Main Menu bar and can be accessed to view the available options.

We can access the add-on’s options from here to customize an existing theme or start building an entirely new theme with a new color scheme and a custom background image.

I know I have tried a pretty ugly looking color scheme here but this is just to give you an idea of how you can create your own custom themes by simply playing with the colors.

Having tried out this extension, I found that it integrated into Firefox seamlessly and will be of great use to anybody wanting to be able to customize Firefox better. After choosing either method, you can proceed to search for subtitles and the results will be displayed. There will be an orange bar with the results other users have found successful. The results are shown along with the website they belong to. If you get a lot of results you can narrow them down by filtration; you can specify the language, rate, publisher, and number of discs of the subtitle file by clicking on the Filter Results button:

Results from some sites like Podnapisi can be highlighted; then you can click ‘Play Subtitle with File’ to directly start viewing the video with its subtitles in the media player you specify during installation. Double clicking on subtitles belonging to other sites such as AllSubs, will take you to the host’s page where you will need to download directly. There are even results which take you to the IMDB or OMDB pages of your video file and provide you with more information. You can also access the details of the subtitles file and preview it to check the quality of language in the translation. If the subtitle has these options available, you can access them by right clicking on the result:

In case there your search result doesn’t show up any orange colored subtitles, you might need to try a few ones before you get it right. However it is still less time consuming since you can select a result and directly press Play With Subtitles and instantly see whether or not it’s a match. Since I cannot see what the site of each result contains, I cannot determine its layout, color scheme, number of ads, and other information which can potentially save my time and help me decide on the best search result. To solve this, I found a wonderful tool which I am now going to share with you: Xmarks Thumbnails.

Xmarks Thumbnails is a great browser extension for Google Chrome which adds thumbnails to the search results of Google. Have a look at the same search result after I had installed this extension:

The thumbnails clearly show me how the webpage is designed and help me a lot in deciding whether or not I want to visit that site. The extension also adds additional information to each result. This information includes the category of the result, its ranking in that category, and its rating (as shown by the number of stars).

Xmarks Thumbnails was formerly Foxmarks as it started out with add-ons for Mozilla Firefox. The extension’s thumbnails feature works on Google Search results of all countries and will surely benefit internet users worldwide.
